Members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic

THOMAS HOOTEN is Principal Trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to joining the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hooten served as Principal Trumpet in the Atlanta Symphony from 2006-2012, where he was awarded the first ever Mabel Dorn Reeder Honorary Chair, a merit-based award for “excellence in musical artistry, leadership, collegiality and community engagement.” Hooten began his career in 2000 with a trumpet/cornet position in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in Washington, D.C. He went on to join the Indianapolis Symphony as Assistant Principal Trumpet for two years, and subsequently won the Principal Trumpet auditions for both the Houston and Atlanta Symphonies. He released Trumpet Call, his first solo album, in 2011. In 2012, Jennifer Marotta and Hooten co-edited the latest release of the Completely Conservatory Method for Trumpet by J. B Arban, which is one of the most widely used trumpet methods in modern history.
Mark Robson (accompanist), with degrees from the University of Southern California and Oberlin College, has been hailed by the Los Angeles Times as a pianist with “one of the great techniques,” “an inquiring mind” and performer capable of evoking an “exquisite engulfing pastel haze,” and he continues to impress with his multi-faceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. Mr. Robson is equally comfortable in styles ranging from early music played on the harpsichord and organ to the great Romantic repertoire and beyond to contemporary piano works. As a collaborative artist he commands the respect of his peers in both the recital and chamber settings. He presents an annual recital for Piano Spheres, and as an organist he has appeared at Disney Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. He also serves as a rehearsal pianist for the Los Angeles Opera, and occasionally helps out at the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Among his formidable musical projects has been the performance in eight concerts of the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven. As a composer, Robson has had works programmed on concerts in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Barcelona, and Paris.
