Wanted! a Summer “Fun”draiser

It brought a smile to the lips and a twinkle to the eye to see our elegant Philharmonic Committee out there stomping up a dust storm doing the Hootchy-Kootchy, or should I say Line Dancing, on Claudia and Tom Grzywacz’s beautifully manicured lawn overlooking this spectacular view of LA.

Everyone was having a rip-roaring time trying to melt away the damage done by scarfing down the giant slabs of beef that had been cooking away on the BBQ all afternoon.  And later that night, thoroughly exhausted, our ladies and gents drifted off to sleep with happy visions of blue jeans and cowboy hats dancing in their heads.

A Touch of Venice in Naples

Bravo to the class of 2013 Provisionals, who brought a touch of  Venice to PCLAP’s summer calendar with a sunset gondola ride.

Gondola 2

Gondola 1

When they first thought of a gondola ride for an auction item, they weren’t sure it would sell.  Then it oversold!  But they weren’t fazed by that.  They jumped right in and created a memorable evening for 26 lucky winners.  Guests sipped champagne and enjoyed appetizers on deck before boarding two gondolas bound for the Naples canals.

Gondola 4

The gondoliers regaled us with song and witty commentary.  The ride ended just after sunset with spectacular views of the Long Beach Harbor.

Gondola 3

Many thanks to Marian Hall, Joellen Alflen, Deb McDonald, Nancy Siskowic, Renee Line and Jann Feldman for a fun evening and excellent auction fundraiser.
