THANK YOU to our members!  You made it possible for us to support the LA Phil with an impressive $80,000 contribution at the May 10 Spring Celebration.  No wonder everyone who attended looks happy!

Look Back — Move Forward!

Staying Power.  It has defined the Peninsula Committee for 60 years.  If a person takes on a job, you can be sure it will be done right.  Every era has brought challenges, and we have adapted with a spirit of “tradition plus innovation” that has fueled our fundraising efforts.

Our Grand Salon in the spring, for members and invited guests, is held at an elegant private residence in Palos Verdes.  It is a time for indulging the senses—with breathtaking coastline views, food and wine tastings, and an intimate experience with LA Phil musicians.  The Grand Salon is steeped in tradition, with fresh twists to entice our members and benefactors.

The spring auction is a companion fundraiser to the Grand Salon.  “Parties” drive the auction results, with members donating dinners, luncheons, and insider tours of local attractions.  The parties, along with artwork, jewelry, and fine wines, are sold at a festive silent auction at the event.  Local businesses also donate items that range from restaurant certificates to zoo memberships.  We are experimenting with different on-line methods to offer these items to our members and the general public.

Our signature event in the fall focuses on public outreach.  “Music Fair II, Historic Roots — A New Experience” will include a feature program on October 7 at scenic Chadwick School, and a youth concert on October 21 at South Coast Botanic Gardens.  While the foundation of Music Fair dates to 1972, we are taking a fresh look at everything from publicity to ticketing.  Our new website at pclaphil.org will play a key part in promoting the event.

New thinking adds vitality to our well-tested repertoire.  Hence, our theme for this year:  Look Back — Move Forward!
